很多時，我們知道某個英文詞語的解釋後，便忽略其他解釋和用法，這是很難學好英文的。就像七月一日，上街遊行的市民很憤怒，因為警察給他們的印象是警察不必要地阻慢遊行，令他們「乾晒」。 People were angry because police gave the impression they were unnecessarily blocking the procession, leaving them to bake under the sun。當成千上萬的人被困在維園，警察和抗議人士在「乾晒」下開始推撞。Scuffles between police and protesters erupted after thousands were stuck under the baking sun in Victoria Park。這個 Bake不是「焗、焙、烤」，它是非正式用語，是「乾晒、感到非常熱」的意思。其他例子：
Open the window -I am baking ! 是「打開窗戶，我快熱死了！」，It’s baking outside是「外面很熱」，I’m baking in this heavy coat是「這件厚外套把我熱死了」。
